The annual picnic has been canceled due to a lack of interest. The event was scheduled for Saturday, 7/24. Sorry guys and gals but we can't plan and buy food for an event like this if no one lets us know they plan on coming!

Your organization can only succeed with its membership supporting and contributing to our goals. If you are a current TCTU member or are considering becoming a member please click here and complete our member Survey. Look through each area listed and indicate the areas that you believe you can contribute and are willing to serve. There is a space at the end of this survey where you can share additional talents that are not mentioned.
We will be offering a fly tying class for beginner fly tier this year. The class will start on Tuesday March 16th and will run 5 consecutive weeks. Materials for the patterns will be provided for those who need materials at a minimal cost to be determined. The class will run from 6:30 to 8:30 pm and will be held at Oley Valley High School. If you are interested in attending please contact Gene Markle at 69pony@comcast.net or Rick Bell at WBellCaddis@aol.com. More details to follow.
Redner's is committed to the commumities that they are part of. They have committed to
help out the non-profit organizations whose members shop in their stores.
How it works:
Each member must stop at the store office or Customer Service area to get a Save-a-Tape card.
By using this card each time you purchase merchandise at Redner's your receipt will be designated as a Save-a-tape customer receipt. Forward those tapes to support your Tulpehocken Chapter Trout Unlimited. The organization will receive 1% of the total of the total of all the Save-a-tape totals on the receipts. Proceeds from these funds will be used to help protect our streams, education and other conservation projects.
An Example of how you can help:
Lets say 50 of our 300 plus members spend an average of $75.99 per week in supermarket expenditures. If it was all spent on the save a tape program and submitted to us. The organization would receive $1,950.00. There is not time limit and no limit. Please start saving tapes today and support the efforts of
your organization.

The date for the Nolde Forest Stream improvement project has been postponed in order to have DEP, PF&BC and the Berks County Conservation District review the project plans for their respective approvals. This will probably delay the project a few weeks with a projected work date sometime in October. Please contact me at 69pony@comcast.net should you have any questions or comments. We will keep you informed.

11.23.08 - From all reports this was a relatively minor fish kill. Depending on who you talk anywhere from a dozen to two hundred trout were killed. It is believed that with the exception of one Bass and a few chubs all the fish killed were part of the October 23rd stocking. Area Fisheries Biologist, Mike Kaufmann, believes the cause may be Heron predation due to the low water levels and high concentration of fish. The bottom line is that we will probably never know the cause. It does not seem to have involved any holdover fish.
11.19.08 - A Fish kill on the Tulpehocken Creek is the focus of a state investigation. Officials said Friday that they are investigating what caused dozens of fish to die this week in the Tulpehocken Creek below the dam at Blue Marsh Lake. The fish kill was first reported by fishermen on Monday, November 10th in the area of Reber's Bridge. The investigation is being conducted by the Fish and Boat Commission along with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
